Meetings with Holy Spirit

My mornings have changed... Literally a complete overhaul! Although I've been living through this evolution, I realized today that I have yet to take a real inventory of every single change. To be honest, I don't know if I really could!

I mean change has literally hit every corner of my life in some kind of way- from the food that I eat, the words I speak, the stewardship of my day, my perspective on money, even my yoga leggings are fitting looser! Full. On. Miracle.

I've heard of this type of change before. I've probably even SEEN it, although my eyes weren't open to genuinely bear witness. But now I get to bear witness first hand. I get to know what it feels like to look back at pictures of my old self and barely recognize the features or the disposition. I now know how it feels to drum up the compassion for the previous version of myself and to hold her with non judgmental care.

So I know what you're wondering... what in the WORLD happened to your mornings? Is it a pill? A new book? Did you start jogging? LOL. Well the answer is simple... Sorta. Yes. And ABSOLUTELY NOT ( I live in GA and I can't take the heat)

What I honestly wanted to share with you is that for the past few months, I've been having daily morning meetings with Holy Spirit. I set a table, brew some coffee or golden milk and sit for genuine conversation with Holy Spirit. Sometimes it's written, sometimes spoken aloud, sometimes the exchange happens in complete silence. But every single morning, the first of my day is given to meeting with the great Comforter.

It started as 15 minutes or so and has now stretched to well over an hour! If you know me, then you know what a big deal that is! I now wake up an hour and a half before my first obligation to make sure that Holy Spirit doesn't get the leftovers of my mornings and attention. Sometimes I just dive into scripture, other times I journal exactly how I'm feeling. No... Not the "sanctified and holy" language of the King James Version Bible. I'm talking raw, honest, what some may even call inappropriate emotions.

Yet something tells me Holy Spirit doesn't see it that way at all... I'm not saying that I am currently a Holy Spirit expert, but I am very much in a Holy Spirit relationship. I am learning both experientially and through study the PERSON of the Holy Spirit, and although I've seen more benefits than I can name, the true gift is genuine communion.

I tell you this here because I'm sure you'll notice some of those changes in the near future as well. Nope. I haven't lost my mind, haven't joined some crazy diet craze... I have started having morning meetings with Holy Spirit - and I'll never be the same again.

From my soul to yours,

Casey

P.S. I've had a lot of talks recently about Holy Spirit and realize how many of us long for both an understanding and a deeper relationship. I'm not expert, but I would encourage you to check out this sermon by John Piper. I've watched it a number of times, and it has really blessed me and served as a guide to find evidence of the nature of Holy Spirit in scripture.

What's been your experience with Holy Spirit? Is your relationship as you desire it to be, or are you feeling the invitation for more? Do you have any books or other resources to recommend? Let me know in the comments below. This is by far one of my favorite topics to dive into. I'd love to chat with you.
